Hello Parents and Community Members,

Welcome to the Elbert School Art Program!

My goal is that every art student from kindergarten through senior high improves their skills, experience new media and techniques, express themselves and communicate through personal themes, relate new skills to lifelong learning, and experience success with their art.

Besides regular art projects and activities, we will also work towards competing in several statewide and national art competitions and displays.  These may include but are not limited to the national duck stamp competition, Office of the District Attorney Safety calendar contest, and Town of Elizabeth Arbor Day contest.  Entry forms are often necessary for participation in these contests.  Read all entries carefully to make sure they are complete before returning them to the school.  The contests are excellent opportunities for students to show their work in a bigger venue and often win very nice prizes!  Awards notifications may be mailed, emailed, or sent home with the student, to parents depending on the format for each sponsor.

As students complete their projects, I will be collecting and preparing them for the spring art show.

The annual all school spring art show is sponsored by Air Academy Federal Credit union.  The credit union donates cash prizes for winners in each grade level.  The release form sent home with each student needs to be filled out, signed and returned to the school for your student to be able to participate in this show.  The form is required by Air Academy to release prizes to the winning students.  Copies of the form are on the school website on the forms page

Student artwork is displayed in each of the four upper and lower classroom wings. Judging is in March, before spring break, and the awards ceremony will be April 7th at 3:30 in the gym.

After the art show, near the end of the school year in May, your student will bring home a portfolio packet of all their artwork.

Thank you for your participation in your student’s continued success in art!
